Quality assurance

The quality of the resources and other activities of the Spacelink Service will be assured both externally and internally through:-

  • submission to the procedures of any appropriate educational approving bodies, for example BECTa in the UK;
  • the standards and quality control procedures set out in a separate Foundation document being independently validated by an HEI or other suitable organisation, and periodically reviewed by them, with the aim of monitoring and enhancing the standing of the Spacelink ‘Kitemark’;
  • provision of website and other open channels of communication between registered and potential customer and dedicated Education and Service Centre staff;
  • various forms of technical monitoring of its website systems, as detailed in other documents;
  • continuous evaluations of the effectiveness of its programmes.
The latter three measures will ensure, among other matters, that the needs, views and other input of all users of the Spacelink Service become quickly known to the Spacelink education management; result in rapid and satisfactory responses; and are taken into account by the Foundation in its forward planning.

The Foundation’s commitment to quality will by symbolised by a distinctive log and style, to be known as the Spacelink ‘Kitemark’. These will indicate approval of the materials through these quality control procedures, and will assure schools that the materials conform to the high standards of quality, reliability, service and educational commitment for which the Spacelink Learning Service aims to become a benchmark.

This policy is expected to be developed by the Foundation on the basis of experience, and through contributions suggested by partner organisations and members of the Spacelink Education Development Network.
